Our commitment

We want this site to work for everyone who needs it — including people using screen readers, magnification, keyboard-only navigation, an older phone, or a slow or metered mobile connection.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

Where we currently stand

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Most of the site meets the standard; known exceptions are listed below. Self-assessed on 19 November 2025 using automated testing and manual keyboard checks. Not independently audited.

What we have built in

• Semantic HTML, so headings, lists and page landmarks are announced correctly.
• Text alternatives on images that carry meaning.
• Keyboard access to everything you can click.
• The page language declared in the markup.
• A layout that works down to 380px wide with no horizontal scrolling.
• Text that resizes in the browser without content overlapping or disappearing.
• Nothing that flashes, auto-plays, or moves on its own.
• Self-hosted fonts and scripts, so pages still work when a connection is slow.

Language

Right now this site is published in English and 中文 only.

For a site whose audience includes the Maldivian public, that is a real accessibility gap, not a minor one, and we would rather name it than leave it unsaid. Dhivehi is planned, and the site has been built so that Dhivehi can be added without rebuilding it.

If you need information from this site in Dhivehi before then, email us and we will answer your question directly in Dhivehi.

Known limitations

• Dhivehi is not yet available. For a site whose audience includes the Maldivian public this is a real gap; a Dhivehi version is planned (see *Language* above).
• The English / 中文 language switch is temporarily turned off while the Dhivehi translation is prepared, so the site currently displays in English.
• Some decorative bilingual text is shown in a gold gradient that may fall below the AA contrast target. The same statement also appears in the main heading in high contrast, so no information depends on the gold text.

Tell us about a barrier

Email career@pioneerunionmaldives.com with the page address and a short description of what happened. No technical terms needed — "I couldn't read the text on my phone" is a useful report.

We aim to acknowledge within 5 working days, and to tell you either when it will be fixed or why it cannot be.

Technical information

A static website built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, hosted on Cloudflare. Fonts and scripts are served from our own domain. Some functions, including the language toggle, need JavaScript.

We review this statement whenever the site's front-end changes, and at least once a year.
